Evaluating nursing practice models in the context of SARS

1. Modular nursing practice led to a change in the nature of direct care activities with an improvement in the frequency of patient/family education.
2. A general increase in the frequency of nurses’ hand washing was observed; however, a lapse in hand washing was noted when nurses perceived time pressure.
3. Geographical separation for infection control created inefficiencies due to insufficient human resources.
